Established in 2001, the Dot NAME gTLD is the only one supposed to be for personal sites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other designations people are known by. At first, solely 3rd-level registrations were possible, so if you wanted to secure john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed third-level domain names remained functional.

You will be able to edit the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to edit Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already purchased domain to our firm if you take its EPP transfer code from the present registrar firm and we will renew it as soon as the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular restrictions on who can secure a dot NAME domain, but in order to maintain the idea behind its creation alive, the .NAME Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
