Custom Error Pages
Find out what a Custom Error Page is, what role does it serve and the way to set up one.
If a page on your Internet site does not load, an error message shall be shown to the website visitor. Since there are different errors, there are different pages that'll appear, but what's typical for all of them is that they're generic and in all probability shall have absolutely nothing in common with the design of your Internet site, which can be annoying for any website visitor. That is the primary reason why website hosting providers have introduced a function named Custom Error Pages. For a range of different errors, visitors will see your custom content, which could be informative or amusing, in accordance with your preference, and which will match the design and style of your website, so the pages shall not look like they're not part of your site at all. You could use this option for a variety of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting
If you purchase a
shared hosting from us, you'll be able to set custom made error pages for your websites easily and quickly, as this feature is a part of all of our solutions. As soon as you've created the files and uploaded them to your web hosting account, you can go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and click on the Edit button for the selected domain or subdomain. In the pop-up that will appear, you shall see drop-down options menus for all four kinds of errors and for each of them you may choose an Apache default page, a generic page from our system or a customized page. Should you choose the third option, you should only enter the URL to the file you have uploaded then save the change. One other way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file in the domain or subdomain folder and to include a few lines of program code in it. If you do not have preceding experience or if you are just unsure how to do this, you can just copy and paste the code from our Knowledge Base article on that matter.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers
All of the
semi-dedicated servers which we offer support customized error pages and it shall not take more than a few mouse clicks from your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option can be found in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel in which you'll need to type in the links to the custom-made files via basic drop-down menus and a time and effort saving interface. Keep in mind, you must upload them in your account before that. In case you do not want to employ this feature at some point, you could disable it just as quickly and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown if your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to allow the custom error pages. The file has to contain a particular line of code as well as a link for each and every error type and you can easily find an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
